Inmate Re-Entry

Meet James

We Believe in Second Chances

Meet Phillip, who spent pretty much his entire adult life in trouble and addicted to drugs. It is men like Phillip that require round the clock assistance in the first days, weeks, and months of sobriety. Phillip’s transformation was remarkable in that upon entering into a faith-based environment,  God changed his heart and began seeing life through the eyes of a Christian.

Part of Jim Lynch’s everyday life included writing a letter to the judge that was preparing to sentence Phillip for crimes committed a year and a half before when Phillip was just coming out of prison and suffered a relapse. Phillip shared that he had never had anyone in his life other than his mom stand up him.  It’s broken and defeated men like Phillip that soar to magnificent heights when given a little time, love, and support.

Phillip started in a faith-based reentry home serving as an assistant until transitioning into a rental home of his own. He now works full-time as a carpenter and is preparing to attend Daytona State College on a barber school scholarship he earned. Upon completing the program, he will serve as a GPS–House barber in Volusia County. In his off time, Phillip pays it forward in providing free haircuts at local homeless shelters and for
anyone who can’t afford a haircut.
