Meet The Team

To describe my life would be like watching a roller coaster of successes and failures. Up one minute, down the next. All of my successes eventually fell apart under the influence of alcohol and drugs. I wasn’t what you would call an addict, but more of a habitual user. Under a shadow of insecurity and low self-esteem, chemicals gave me temporary confidence. The talent and gifts I possessed brought me success and acceptance, but underneath, I was ashamed of the real me.

Then came rehab in 1990 and I began a new life. God confronted me while driving on a freeway in Los Angeles and my eyes were opened to my wasted condition. I’d had enough and was tired of running. To stay sober and clean, I had to WANT IT bad enough to listen to and learn God’s voice speaking through his servants. Because of that determination and the strength and power of the Holy Spirit, I’ve remained sober and clean from booze and drugs for 30 years. Inmate Encounter affords me the opportunity to share a new life of hope and deliverance (through faith in Jesus) with men and women who (I believe) hide under a cloak of shame and guilt. By allowing myself to become vulnerable through an honest testimony, I give these captives the chance to open up and be real themselves. My mission is to treat the prisoner as if I was one of them. (Hebrews 13:3)

This, I believe, is the goal of Inmate Encounter, and I’m privileged to partner with this great organization to help change the lives of those who suffer behind the walls.
